Nashville’s the Loving Mary Band have released the video for their single “Little Bit of Love” and, it’s safe to say, it offers an evergreen message of kindness and charity that’s particularly resonant this week.

Leader Marti Frederiksen offers a call to action with the jangly country rock tune, warning people against getting mired in bitterness or apathy. “That kind of life it ain’t worth livin / Let your guard down and start forgiving right now,” he sings, surrounded by rich layers of harmony. In the video, a child in a superhero cape performs random acts of kindness for strangers – washing dishes, finding a lost dog, fixing a motorcycle – disappearing quickly but leaving them each a sticky note with a heart. He doesn’t seem to ask anything in return, only to help. “Little Bit of Love” is the title track to the band’s debut album, released in October.

“With everything going on in the world today, it doesn’t hurt to give a little bit of love and kindness, like the message in the video,” says Frederiksen. The band has also partnered with St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital to make a donation based on the number of views the video receives.

Formed in Nashville, the Loving Mary Band combines several successful solo talents under one umbrella and has been featured as Steven Tyler’s backing band in support of his solo country debut. Leader Frederiksen previously wrote and produced songs for Aerosmith and Carrie Underwood, providing the vocal parts for the band Stillwater in Almost Famous. He’s joined by a group of talented singers and players in Suzie McNeil (Rock Star: INXS), ACM Award-winner Rebecca Lynn Howard, Elisha Hoffman, Sarah Tomek and Andrew Mactaggart.
