Round Hill Music Signs Pop Writer Ricky Smith

October 26, 2017

Ricky Smith is a singer, songwriter and producer from New York City. Being immersed in the arts from a young age, he appeared in the original Broadway cast of the Color Purple at the age of 10. As a child actor, he went on to perform in such titles as 30 Rock, Law and Order: SVU, Notorious, and the Electric Company. Shifting his focus to music in high school, Ricky began recording with friends in his parents Battery Park City apartment. These years proved formative for Ricky, showing him that becoming a recording artist was the career path that he wanted to pursue. Ricky graduated from Manhattan’s Professional Performing Arts School in 2013. After taking a gap year, he enrolled in the prestigious Martin Bandier Program for Music Business and Entertainment Industries at Syracuse University. In August of 2014, Ricky released his debut single “Reaching Out” on Soundcloud. The track’s success led to him establishing relationships with Syracuse University alumni working in the music business. In January 2016, Ricky was featured on pop-rap artist Hoodie Allen’s number 1 iTunes album “Happy Camper”. In July of that year, he independently released his debut EP “Release”. The penultimate track, “Good Days” (featuring Jeremy Zucker), reached number 41 on the Spotify US Viral Charts. He went on to perform with Allen on his sold-out mini-tour of the Northeast in November 2016. Ricky is currently working on his sophomore EP, as well as writing and producing for other artists.
