Hear Marc Broussard’s Urgent New Song ‘Don’t Be Afraid to Call Me’

July 13, 2017

“I had a friend who used to call me all the time, then he didn’t, I don’t know why,” sings Marc Broussard at the top of his new song “Don’t Be Afraid to Call Me.” The stirring ballad is the lead single from the Louisiana native and “Home” singer’s forthcoming album Easy to Love, set for a September 15th release.

With characteristic soul, Broussard laments the disappearance of a friend from his life – they were once running buddies, carousing and confiding in one another until one day this person was no longer there. “I lost my right hand,” sings Broussard, leading into a swelling, urgent chorus that mixes his signature blues-influenced howl with doses of gospel and country, along with the sincere assurance that he’s just a phone call away.

“We’ve all got friends we don’t talk to anymore, for one reason or another,” says Broussard. “Sometimes, the reason may be completely justifiable. Sometimes we just grow apart naturally. Whatever the case may be, I think most people can relate to that feeling of wishing you could hear from someone you once cherished as a close confidant, hoping they wouldn’t hesitate to call if they really needed you.”

Easy to Love is Broussard’s first full-length since 2014’s A Life Worth Living. He’ll hit the road in early August, with stops including AmericanaFest in Nashville on September 12th and the Highland Blues and Jazz Festival in Shreveport, Louisiana, on September 16th.
