Aaron Neville Collaborates With Eric Krasno On New Album

June 21, 2016

With the exception of “Fragile World,” all of the album’s new tunes were co-written by Neville, Krasno and Rustic Overtones’ Dave Gutter. Krasno, who is best known for his work with Soulive and Lettuce, also produced the record.

“Be Your Man,” the first track from the album to see the light of day, premiered yesterday on Wall Street Journal’s Speakeasy blog. The funky five-minute song showcases guitar from Eric Krasno and horns from members of Sharon Jones’ backing band The Dap Kings. You can give the tune a listen below.

Apache marks Neville’s first record since 2013’s My True Story, a collection of doo-wop covers that was produced by Don Was and Keith Richards.

Neville will play a few shows in support of his new release this summer, with a special 75th birthday concert slated for August 4 at Harlem’s famed Apollo Theater. The event will also celebrate the 50th anniversary of Neville’s breakthrough hit, “Tell It Like It Is.” A full list of his upcoming tour dates is available on his website.
